Holiday clothes shopping for my 18 month old -Primark/Matalan

We have our first family holiday coming up in July since having our son. It will be his first holiday ever and I am far too excited. We are going to our family villa in Spain which is conveniently all baby proofed, with a good sized car (with air con), a buggy, car seat and stair gates all there ready.

Holiday’s are expensive and it’s not just the cost of the holiday and money spent whilst away, it’s the preparation leading up to it. Main one being clothes, suntan creams and more, plus we now have another person to buy for. So with that in mind we decided to go clothes shoping every 4 weeks or so to spread out the cost and not just do it all last minute.

We always like to dress our son quite fashionably but always want him to be comfortable and practical because at the end of the day he is a toddler! I managed to grab some great bargains and some really nice clothing from Primark and Matalan. We still have a lot more to get but you can see the latest items we bought him below.

I spotted a table of tees in Primark and they had a lot to choose from, so I started grabbing a

handful and was pleasantly suprised to find that they were actually only £1.50 each. They had a lot of different colours and patterns and seen as though our son is just a mini me version of my partner, we went with a lot of stripes and red (which is what his dad will be wearing a lot of on holiday).

The t-shirts were great to mix and match with shorts and work for both day and night. The t-shirts are very practical being thin and patterned/coloured and will be ideal on holiday in the heat and to disguise spillages! Team them with the right bottoms and your little one still looks like a cool little dude!

This little tee was just far too cute not to get for his holiday and it was the perfect holiday style tee. It was a little more expensive than the £1.50 tees at £3 but still not a bad price nevertheless. This looked so lovely with his denim shorts.

I loved these denim shorts as soon as I saw them as they looked so cool but also really comfy. They weren’t too thick and heavey too which can obviously be a problem with denim clothing. I don’t think he will be wearing these in the day though as he will probably be in some kind of UV-suit or soft shorts and t-shirt most of the time..or just a nappy, but he will definitely get a lot of wear out of these on an evening. I thought they were also reasonably priced at £6, especially as he would get a lot of wear out of them and they actually felt good quality.

This 3 pack of t-shirts was another bargain at only £6 from Matalan. The material is so nice and soft and I just knew they would be super comfy for my little one, plus they look very cute on too. So these t-shirts plus the 3 from Primark meant I got him 6 fashionable tees for a total of £10.50! We will be away on holiday for 2 weeks and we have a washing machine in the villa so I don’t think we will be needing many more t-shirts, especially as he already has tonnes in his collection. You can’t go wrong with t-shirts like this and they go with so much.

The t-shirts are great for day and night time and I think I will be putting him in one of the tees with the Primark shorts pictured above left to travel in. This outfit will be nice and soft for him whilst travelling and the shorts can be rolled up to be a little shorter when arriving there in the heat, as we arrive in the day time. They will also allow easy access to his nappy to make it easier for me when changing his nappy as they just slide on and off.

We didn’t think there was any point in buying lots of smart clothing for the little guy to take on holiday as we thought it wouldn’t be very comfortable for him. However I did want the odd shirt with us for nice meals out and I came accross this one in Matalan and thought it was just lovely. It is light and thin and will keep him quite cool, plus he looks absolutely gorgeous in it. It really suits his blonde locks and his lovely porcelain skin. This shirt looks great with his denim shorts or some cream coloured chinos. This item was the most expensive at £7 and I thought this was pretty average for a shirt for a little one.

So this last top was not my choosing. His dad of course chose this and I had no say in the matter! Reid is obsessed with Batman but he thinks all superheros are called Batman. His dad is a marvel fan and his face lit up when he spotted this for his little mini me. It is very cute and the little guy constantly points at the characters and calls them Batman.

I love buying clothes for my little guy! He just looks so cute in everything and he definitely knows it. I do buy clothes from Primark and Matalan a lot because he grows out of clothes so quickly so I don’t see the point in spending a lot of money on clothing for him. Primark and Matalan have some really great fashionable clothing in for children at great prices. I find the clothing in Primark can be quite small in sizes however so I do find myself going up 1 or  sizes. I still have a few more things to buy, mainly some shoes and hats but other than that I only need a few more clothing items and I am almost there with his holiday gear.
