Our Engagement Party!!!

I have finally managed to get round to uploading all of the photos from our engagement party! It has been a busy few months since we got engaged in September and it’s already coming up to Christmas!! We managed to fit in our engagement party however and it really was such a lovely occasion. We ended up having two parties in one day which was fun and exhausting to say the least! We struggled to find something that suited everyone as we had to think about family (mine live Durham way and Sie’s are in Newcastle), we had to think about kids and also work around friends. A lot of Sie’s good friends are also teachers which meant having to organise when they would be able to come and his best man is a teacher in London so it was slightly tricky trying to work out the best way to do it.

The first party was in the day at a local pub to my mum’s house that we have come to love over the years. We knew they would look after us and it was a relaxed environment that was quite a good location for everyone to get to. We had all the family and a couple of friends come to this and had a very yummy buffet on. My mum and dad had worked so hard doing up the room and it really did look so beautiful in there. With my mum having an event management and prop hire business she obviously knew what she was doing and she brought some of her lovely props to use. We even had our date displayed in blocks on the main table to announce to everyone at the party!

My mum makes cakes as a hobby and she is really talented. She offered to make us an engagement cake and I sent her a few images of ones I had seen that I liked. She made the most amazing cake ever and It was far too pretty to eat..although we did eat it all and it was soo yummy! The bottom layer was plain sponge and the top layer was chocolate orange! I just love how she made it look like our initials were carved in to wood. She even handmade all of the flowers and everything looked perfect! So not only did she work hard transforming the party room she worked for hours making us a cake too. I certainly am lucky to have such a talented mum!

Later on that evening we jumped in a cab and headed to the second part of our Engagement party. We chose Revolution Bar In Newcastle which is where we actually met each other. We had the balcony all reserved for us and a table full of fizz waiting for us all when we got there. We got to see friends and carry on the celebration which was nice and our little guy stayed with the grandparents. We had a great night and I think we managed to last until about 1am and then it was time to go home as we were exhausted. It was so nice having everyone make the effort to come and see us and we even had people coming from the likes of Edinburgh just to attend.
