Minor Ailments service

wedwfe

Just recently I had heard about something called Minor Ailments service (which apparently has been around for a while but was not allowed to be advertised). For those of you who don’t know, this service allows those that are exempt from paying for prescriptions such as children, pregnant women and so on to obtain a range of ‘minor ailements’ free of charge, without having to see a doctor first, on the NHS. See photo above for list of things the minor ailements includes. The one thing that got me very excited (sadly) being a mum was free paracetamol for my little one! Other parents will know that buying calpol for your little one can really cost a lot, especially whilst going through the dreaded teething stage! So being able to get free paracetamol was actually a really great thing to take advantage of. This service may not be available in all pharmacies but I have it on good authority that it is available at most and in places such as Boots.

I went in to boots recently and whilst I was there I thought I would give it a go and grab some paracetamol for my son. I had no idea what I was supposed to do and whether i was just meant to say ‘ can i have some free paracetamol….’. but it was actually really easy. All you have to do is go in and mention ‘the minor ailments service’ and they will give you a very brief form to fill in. It really is as simple as that, and hey presto you have just bagged a very useful freebie! The amount of money you will save over the years because of this is just brilliant, especially for those of you with 2+ children!

So remember that next time you are in boots and you are running low on something.
